Real Madrid supporters have voiced their dissatisfaction with Ferland Mendy’s performance during their 2-0 loss to Liverpool in the UEFA Champions League.
The match, held at Anfield on November 27, saw Liverpool dominate, especially in the second half.
Mendy, in particular, came under heavy criticism from fans on X, with many blaming him for the team’s poor showing. The 29-year-old French full-back struggled defensively, losing three duels and failing to make any clearances or create chances for his side.
A pivotal moment came in the 70th minute when Mendy fouled Mohamed Salah in the penalty area, giving away a penalty. Although Salah’s shot hit the woodwork, sparing Mendy from a worse fate, the incident highlighted his difficulties throughout the match.
After the penalty, Mendy was substituted for Fran Garcia, but the change did little to alter the outcome. Liverpool secured all three points with goals from Alexis Mac Allister and Cody Gakpo.
Frustrated Real Madrid fans quickly expressed their displeasure with Mendy’s performance on X, with many calling for him to be dropped from the starting lineup. The defeat marks a significant blow for Real Madrid, who are struggling to find their rhythm in the Champions League.
With more challenging fixtures ahead, they will need to improve significantly to advance in the competition.
