The PSG is still struggling to accept Kylian Mbappé’s departure to Real Madrid. While the 25-year-old forward and Nasser Al-Khelaifi’s club are in a dispute over unpaid wages and bonuses, Cyril Hanouna has unleashed harsh criticism on the new Madrid player.
It’s no secret that the relationship between Paris Saint-Germain and Kylian Mbappé has soured. After seven years of collaboration, including a particularly turbulent final year, the two sides parted ways this summer.
Mbappé, who had been expected at Real Madrid for over two years, is now looking to make his mark in Spain with a standout performance to kickstart his journey. Despite scoring 10 goals in 19 matches, the Bondy native has received his fair share of criticism over his playing style.
While awaiting that defining match, which will silence the critics, Cyril Hanouna has not held back in his remarks about the former PSG star.
“He is in a downward spiral”
A close ally of PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi, Hanouna openly criticized Mbappé, stating that joining Real Madrid was the biggest mistake of his career. “He made the biggest mistake of his life by going to Real Madrid. He is in a spiral of failure.
Mbappé should have stayed at PSG, won the Champions League with the club, and become Ballon d’Or with them. The club gave him everything, it would have been his club. He would have been the boss at PSG,” Hanouna said, according to Foot Mercato.
This bitter outburst reflects the deep resentment felt by many at PSG toward the new number 9 of Real Madrid. During his seven years in Paris, Mbappé never managed to win the Ballon d’Or or the Champions League—an achievement that seems even further out of reach now, given the current state of Luis Enrique’s team. So, it’s hard to argue that joining Real Madrid was the wrong decision, especially for a club that is known for making stars.
Mbappé bound for greatness in Madrid
Despite a rocky start, Kylian Mbappé is unlikely to remain in his current challenging situation for long. With the full backing of Carlo Ancelotti and the support of the club’s leadership under Florentino Pérez, the former PSG star is starting to settle in.
He recently scored a beautiful goal against Getafe in La Liga, showing signs of improvement. Although he had been struggling mentally in recent weeks, the French national team captain appears to be regaining his confidence.
As Thibaut Courtois recently shared, things will eventually turn in Mbappé’s favor, with the former Monaco player remaining one of the best in the world. With Pérez’s unwavering support, Mbappé is poised to achieve great things with the most prestigious club in Spain.
