Joe Cole has lauded Chelsea’s rising star Marc Guiu, drawing comparisons between the young forward and Uruguayan striker Luis Suarez.
Chelsea are enjoying a strong season, excelling in the Premier League and maintaining a perfect record in the Europa Conference League. Their latest win came on Thursday with a 3-1 victory over FC Astana in Almaty, Kazakhstan.
The Blues took the lead in the 14th minute when Marc Guiu finished clinically at the near post. Shortly after, Guiu played a crucial role in Chelsea’s second goal, forcing Astana defender Aleksandr Marochkin into an own goal. By the 38th minute, the lead was further extended, as Renato Veiga capitalized on a precise corner kick from Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.
Astana pulled one back just before halftime, with Marin Tomasov curling a shot into the far post, but Chelsea kept their composure and secured all three points.
During the match, Chelsea legend Joe Cole praised Guiu’s performance, likening his style to that of Luis Suarez. Speaking to TNT Sports at halftime, Cole highlighted Guiu’s sharpness and movement, drawing parallels to the former Liverpool and Barcelona striker.
