Virgil van Dijk Sends Shockwaves with Bold Liverpool Contract Statement
Virgil van Dijk Sparks Major Liverpool Buzz with Contract Update
Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk has revealed that he has not yet received a new contract offer, with Mohamed Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold also nearing the point where they can begin negotiating with other clubs as early as next week.
As Van Dijk enters the final six months of his contract, he remains calm and focused on Liverpool’s immediate goals. The 33-year-old emphasized that his full attention is on the current season, saying, “There’s no deadline. I’ll see what the future holds. My full focus is on Leicester.” Liverpool currently sit four points clear at the top of the Premier League with a game in hand, following their thrilling 6-3 victory over Tottenham.
Van Dijk also praised Salah’s exceptional contribution to the club, noting that the forward’s brace against Spurs saw him move to fourth on Liverpool’s all-time scoring list. “His numbers speak for themselves,” Van Dijk said. “He’s done an incredible job for the club, and I hope he can have his best season yet.”
Despite Liverpool’s strong position at the top of the table, Van Dijk remains cautious, remembering past seasons where strong Christmas leads didn’t result in titles. “We’ve been there before. We’ve lost by small margins. The key is to take it game by game. Being top at Christmas is great, but we want to still be there in May.”
