Liverpool Provides Important Update on Leicester Match Amid Fog Concerns
Liverpool is preparing to host Leicester City at Anfield, but concerns about heavy fog around the stadium have raised doubts about the match going ahead as planned.
The Reds, currently leading the Premier League, are scheduled to face Ruud van Nistelrooy’s Leicester on Thursday night. However, thick fog in the area has led to uncertainty about whether the game will proceed.
Through their Liverpool FC Help account, the club urged fans to plan accordingly for their journey, advising: “If you are coming to the match today, please leave earlier than usual due to foggy conditions around Anfield. Please travel carefully.”
Despite the weather worries, The Athletic’s James Pearce reported: “As it stands, Liverpool expect tonight’s game against Leicester City to take place. Although the thick fog over Merseyside is a concern, officials have stated there will be no 4pm pitch inspection at Anfield.”
This comes just weeks after Liverpool’s derby against Everton was postponed due to severe weather, with the club prioritizing the safety of fans, players, and staff.
Currently, Liverpool’s lead at the top of the Premier League could be reduced to just one point, with Chelsea leading Fulham 1-0 at Stamford Bridge.
In his matchday programme notes, Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk reflected on the season so far: “We know there’s a long way to go, but we’ve created a strong foundation.
