The kickoff of the Globe Soccer Awards in Dubai was marked by Cristiano Ronaldo’s presence alongside Thibaut Courtois. During the event, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner shared his views on current football news, focusing on two promising young talents: Jude Bellingham and Lamine Yamal.
Ronaldo had this to say about the young players:
“When I joined Manchester United, I was a player who relied heavily on dribbling. Over time, I realized that football is much more than that: you have to be efficient. Having talent is essential, but work ethic is just as important. Being professional at all times and adapting your approach to your age are key factors in maintaining your level. Clubs, on their part, have a significant responsibility in supporting young players. Bellingham and Lamine, for instance, are still very young. They will have to make many sacrifices and rely on a bit of luck to play as long as I have. But it’s also the responsibility of clubs to guide them properly.”
He continued:
“Today, players complain about the excessive number of matches, and I agree with them. However, I think that in order to remain competitive, the way we train needs to be reconsidered: reduce the workload or train in a smarter way.”
Through this, Ronaldo offered an insightful reflection on the challenges and demands of modern football.
