Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has suggested that Joao Felix could be a potential solution to counteract the increasing tendency of teams man-marking Cole Palmer out of matches. Maresca highlighted the importance of developing alternative strategies to support the young player.
“The next step for Cole is to handle these situations, as most teams are marking him man-to-man,” Maresca explained.
“One possibility could be pairing him with Joao, depending on the situation.”
Despite the challenges, Maresca praised Palmer’s effort and creativity: “We continue to rely on Cole because he can create opportunities, and he works hard off the ball.”
However, Maresca stressed that the team should not depend solely on Palmer: “We cannot put the weight of every game on Cole’s shoulders.”
Introducing Joao Felix alongside Palmer could add a new attacking dimension for Chelsea, providing more options for the team and easing the pressure on the young midfielder.
