Chelsea are reportedly unlikely to pursue another attempt to sign Victor Osimhen during the January transfer window, despite having missed out on the prolific Nigerian striker earlier this year. The 25-year-old joined Galatasaray on a season-long loan from Napoli last summer after falling out with his Serie A club.
Since moving to Turkey, Osimhen has scored 12 goals in 15 appearances across all competitions, including two in a Europa League win over Tottenham Hotspur. However, The Athletic reports that Chelsea do not plan to rekindle their interest in the Napoli forward in the upcoming transfer window.
Chelsea had made a late push in September to sign Osimhen on loan with an obligation to buy at the end of the season, but the deal fell through. While strengthening their striker position remains a long-term goal, Chelsea are reportedly planning to wait until next summer, with Ipswich Town’s Liam Delap among the players being monitored.
Currently sitting second in the Premier League, Chelsea have a strong attacking lineup, featuring players like Jadon Sancho, Pedro Neto, Noni Madueke, João Félix, and Christopher Nkunku.
Meanwhile, players such as Ben Chilwell, Carney Chukwuemeka, and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall may leave in January due to limited playing time under manager Enzo Maresca. Chelsea’s 2024 schedule included a Boxing Day match against Fulham at Stamford Bridge, followed by a fixture against Ipswich on December 30.
