A surprising transfer twist could be on the way, as Real Madrid is being urged to exploit a situation within the Barcelona squad and secure the signing of Dani Olmo, one of their summer acquisitions.
According to a column by Marca journalist Jesús Sánchez, Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez should take advantage of Olmo’s uncertain status at Barcelona and bring him to Madrid.
Olmo, a member of Spain’s Euro 2024-winning squad, returned to Barcelona in the summer for €57 million from RB Leipzig and has impressed, scoring six goals in 15 appearances across all competitions.
However, Olmo’s registration with Barcelona is currently in jeopardy. Due to the club’s violation of La Liga’s spending cap, Olmo was only given provisional registration until the end of the year.
A court has now rejected Barcelona’s request to extend his registration, putting Olmo at risk of missing the second half of the season. This has fueled speculation that Olmo could leave Barcelona for free if his registration is not finalized.
Mundo Deportivo had previously reported this possibility, and now Marca is advising Real Madrid to seize the opportunity and sign Olmo.
Although it remains unclear whether Real Madrid will act on this, such a transfer would be a shocking and contentious move. Given the intense rivalry between the two clubs, luring a key player from Barcelona would be a significant blow to their archrivals.
