“Liverpool’s Positive Mood as Salah and Van Dijk Set to Sign New Contracts, Says Journalist”
The atmosphere at Liverpool is reportedly upbeat, with growing optimism around Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk extending their contracts at Anfield.
With Salah, Van Dijk, and Trent Alexander-Arnold all nearing free agency next summer, Liverpool faces mounting pressure to secure their futures and avoid losing these key players. While losing all three, particularly on free transfers, would be a major setback, there is now renewed hope regarding Salah and Van Dijk’s contract situations, according to journalist David Ornstein.
Speaking to NBC Sports, Ornstein shared that Liverpool is confident both Salah and Van Dijk will sign new contracts, with expectations that they could each agree to two-year extensions. However, there is less certainty surrounding Alexander-Arnold’s future.
“We know that they have made offers to all three players,” Ornstein said. “The feeling around Liverpool is that Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk will eventually sign. And the suggestion I’m getting is that it will be a two-year contract.”
While losing Alexander-Arnold to Real Madrid would be a significant blow, retaining Van Dijk and Salah would mitigate the damage. Liverpool supporters remain hopeful for a favorable resolution to Alexander-Arnold’s situation, but securing two out of these three key players would be seen as a positive outcome.
Salah, in particular, is crucial to keep, as he’s arguably in the best form of his career and continues to impress under manager Arne Slot. The Egyptian forward shows no signs of slowing down and could remain at an elite level for several more years.
