Forget Osimhen: Chelsea Could Sign A £67m Talisman Who’s Like Haaland

Nicolas Jackson has been a key player this season, scoring an impressive nine goals in the league. However, despite his strong performances, the club’s management is still looking to strengthen their attacking options.

Victor Osimhen has resurfaced as a potential target, with rumors of a January transfer gaining momentum after a failed summer pursuit. Currently on loan at Galatasaray, Osimhen has a release clause in his contract that could facilitate a permanent move if activated by a club. While Osimhen’s abilities could enhance the team’s attacking strength, it may be wiser for Maresca to focus on a player who has truly excelled in the 2024/25 season.

Chelsea’s Interest in £67m Striker

Dušan Vlahović has been frequently linked with Chelsea and could be a strong addition to their squad. The Serbian striker has been in superb form for Juventus, scoring 12 goals in 21 appearances across all competitions this season, including four Champions League goals—one of which was against Manchester City earlier this month.

At just 24 years old, Vlahović was once seen as a more affordable alternative to Alexander Isak, with Juventus reportedly asking for €75m (£67m) for their prized forward. Given his impressive performances, Vlahović could provide the firepower Chelsea needs to continue their unexpected Premier League title challenge.

Adding Vlahović to Chelsea’s squad would be a major coup, especially considering his resemblance to another Premier League sensation.

Vlahović’s Potential to Make an Impact Like Haaland

Since joining Manchester City in 2022, Erling Haaland has been a dominant force in the Premier League, helping the club secure multiple trophies. With 108 goals in 122 appearances for City, Haaland has become one of the most prolific forwards in the league, breaking records and maintaining a strong scoring rate despite recent dips in form.

In comparison, Vlahović has received widespread praise for his attacking qualities. His style of play, as noted by FBref, shares similarities with Haaland’s, suggesting he could make a similar impact at Chelsea. While his total goals and assists may not yet match Haaland’s, Vlahović outperforms him in terms of progressive passes and carries per 90 minutes—skills that would align well with Maresca’s possession-based strategy.

Journalist Ollie Spencer has described Vlahović as “phenomenal,” and his current form suggests he could be a transformative player for Chelsea, bringing both technical skill and clinical finishing to their title bid.
