We have…’ – Arne Slot leaves Liverpool fans in no doubt as to his views on the Carabao Cup

Arne Slot has emphasized that Liverpool must defend the Carabao Cup title they won last season, underscoring the club’s commitment to competing in every tournament. Following a 2-1 victory over Southampton in the quarter-finals, Slot reiterated that Liverpool has an obligation to retain the trophy, despite his own first experience with the competition.

While the Carabao Cup is often considered a secondary competition to the Premier League and Champions League, Slot acknowledged its value, offering an early-season opportunity for silverware and giving younger players valuable experience.

Liverpool’s success in the tournament is evident, having won the Carabao Cup a record 10 times, and they are now just two games away from another Wembley appearance.

Slot, who inherited the job after Jurgen Klopp, recognized the importance of the competition, particularly for a club with such a strong history in it. Winning the Carabao Cup would be a fitting start to his tenure and could mark a seamless transition between Klopp’s era and his own.
