Manchester United players reportedly have an idea of who has been leaking team information ahead of matches.
The entire starting lineup was leaked hours before their derby against Manchester City last month, although the Red Devils still managed a notable 2-1 victory at the Etihad.
Following the leak, two Manchester United players were questioned as the club launched an investigation.
Coach Ruben Amorim addressed the situation after the win, expressing his belief that such leaks are difficult to prevent due to the number of people involved at the club, including players talking to agents or friends. He added, “It’s not a good thing, but let’s move on and see if they find the next starting XI.”
A new report from The Daily Mail suggests that the players at Manchester United believe they know who is responsible for the leaks.
In his column, Sami Mokbel wrote that while Amorim downplayed the issue, the players had become amateur detectives, trying to figure out the source of the leaks. Representatives of some players even contacted Mail Sport, claiming their clients had identified the culprit.
Since their victory over Manchester City, Manchester United has struggled, with no wins in their subsequent matches.
After being eliminated from the Carabao Cup, they suffered three consecutive league losses, including a heavy 3-0 defeat to Bournemouth and a loss to Wolves on Boxing Day. The team then endured their ninth league defeat of the season against Newcastle United.
