Trent Alexander-Arnold is reportedly set to receive a substantial signing-on bonus if he joins Real Madrid.
The Liverpool vice-captain, whose contract expires at the end of the season, has been frequently linked with a transfer to the Spanish club. Although Madrid’s bid for him in January was rejected, they plan to make another attempt. Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti is said to be urging the club to move quickly to secure the 26-year-old’s signature.
Alexander-Arnold is expected to be offered a lucrative financial package, potentially worth up to £100 million, which would include a significant pay raise from his current £180,000-a-week salary at Liverpool. While his deal won’t rival Kylian Mbappé’s record-breaking contract, Alexander-Arnold would still become one of the world’s highest-paid players, thanks to the generous signing bonus.
Alongside him, Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk and star forward Mohamed Salah also have uncertain futures, with both players’ contracts ending in the summer.
However, it’s believed that both are likely to stay at Anfield. Liverpool manager Arne Slot has downplayed the speculation surrounding Alexander-Arnold, expressing his contentment with the trio.
Liverpool will next face Manchester United at Anfield on Sunday.
