Viktor Gyokeres has made a timely statement about his potential move to Arsenal, solidifying his status as a key target for Mikel Arteta’s squad.
With the January transfer window now open, Gyokeres’ recent performances have emphasized why he should be a priority for Arteta if the manager is seeking a new striker this month.
In his latest match, the Swedish forward netted a hat-trick—his 71st, 72nd, and 73rd goals in 78 appearances for his Portuguese club.
He scored in the 2nd, 14th, and 57th minutes. However, despite his efforts, Sporting Lisbon were unable to secure a victory, ending the match in a 4-4 draw against Vitoria SC, further highlighting the club’s ongoing struggles.
Since their unbeaten run was broken in November, Sporting has faltered following manager Ruben Amorim’s departure to Manchester United, with their new coach already being dismissed.
Though Gyokeres has a €100m (£83m) release clause, reports suggest an agreement is in place that could allow him to leave for a lower fee next summer.
