Liverpool has confirmed their first signing of the January transfer window, a superstar player who has drawn comparisons to Lionel Messi.

Liverpool may consider pursuing Khvicha Kvaratskhelia if he leaves Napoli in January, according to respected journalist David Ornstein of The Athletic.

Ornstein notes that Liverpool have a strong interest in the Georgian winger and are monitoring his situation at Napoli closely.

While the club is not actively targeting Kvaratskhelia at present, they could make a move should he become available. However, they would face competition from other top clubs, including PSG and Chelsea, who are also reportedly interested.

Since joining Napoli from Rubin Kazan in 2022, Kvaratskhelia has gained significant recognition for his performances, registering 30 goals and 29 assists in 107 appearances. The 23-year-old has firmly established himself as one of Europe’s top attacking talents.

This season, he has scored 5 goals and provided 3 assists in 19 matches, bringing his career tally to 52 goals and 53 assists across all competitions, according to Transfermarkt.

Although his contract with Napoli runs until 2027, stalled discussions over a new deal have led to interest from several leading European clubs.

A move to Liverpool may seem unlikely, given the current competition for spots on the left wing with players like Luis Díaz and Cody Gakpo. However, speculation about Díaz’s future could open up space for Kvaratskhelia.

Reports indicate that Díaz has turned down a contract extension offer from Liverpool, feeling undervalued, with clubs like Barcelona reportedly showing interest. If Díaz were to leave in the summer, signing Kvaratskhelia could become a more viable option for the club.
