Ancelotti Condemns Confrontation After Real Madrid’s 3-0 Victory Over Mallorca

Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti criticized the unnecessary confrontation between players from both teams following his side’s 3-0 win over Mallorca in the Spanish Supercopa semifinal. The incident erupted after Rodrygo’s late goal, leading to a heated exchange between Mallorca’s Pablo Maffeo and several Real Madrid players, including Jude Bellingham and substitute Raúl Asencio.

Ancelotti stepped in to defuse the situation, stating, “I tried to calm things down a bit with Maffeo. I went onto the pitch to help end the fight. The players were upset, but in the end, nothing happened.” He emphasized that the altercation was unwarranted, adding, “The fight was unnecessary. The game was over. I don’t blame my players or Mallorca’s players; it was unnecessary for both teams.”

Midfielder Aurélien Tchouaméni, who had been substituted after a head clash, also addressed the issue. “There’s a Mallorca player [Maffeo] who we have problems with every game. People got angry, but the most important thing is winning. It isn’t important. We don’t want to talk about this guy because that’s what he wants.”

Mallorca’s coach Jagoba Arrasate said he wasn’t fully aware of the incident. “I don’t know, I was focused on the end of the match. I don’t know what happened, our players were angry about the two goals, I think.”

The win sets up a much-anticipated El Clásico final against Barcelona on Sunday. Ancelotti acknowledged the unpredictable nature of the rivalry, saying, “Recently, the Clásico has always been unpredictable. It’s hard to say what the next game will be like. It will be entertaining, there’ll be a lot of quality on the pitch.”

Ancelotti and Tchouaméni both praised Jude Bellingham, who scored his ninth goal of the season. Ancelotti noted, “Jude is improving because he’s more active, he’s combining more with Vinícius and Rodrygo.” Tchouaméni added, “Jude is a phenomenal player. He helps us win games all the time.”
