Al-Hilal identify Liverpool star as replacement for Neymar Jr. amid speculation of reunion with Lionel Messi in MLS

Mohamed Salah has reportedly become a prime target for Saudi Pro League champions Al-Hilal, who are looking for a replacement for Neymar.

According to 90Min, Neymar, who has struggled with injuries since joining Al-Hilal from PSG in the summer of 2023, may be headed to MLS to reunite with Lionel Messi at Inter Miami. This move would leave Al-Hilal needing a new star, and Salah, whose future at Liverpool is uncertain with his contract expiring in the summer, could be the ideal candidate.

Neymar’s tenure at Al-Hilal has been underwhelming, with the Brazilian making only seven appearances due to frequent injuries. With his contract set to expire, he is likely to depart on a free transfer. Reports suggest that Neymar could join Messi in the US, where he would join former Barcelona teammates such as Luis Suarez, Sergio Busquets, and Jordi Alba at Inter Miami.

Meanwhile, Salah has been in stellar form for Liverpool this season, netting 21 goals and providing 17 assists in 27 matches. Although the Egyptian has expressed a desire to remain at Liverpool, he wants a deal that suits his terms.

Having joined the Reds from AS Roma in 2017 for £34.3 million, Salah has been a key figure at Anfield, amassing 232 goals and 105 assists in 376 appearances. His future remains unclear, and Al-Hilal is reportedly eyeing a sensational move for him if he becomes available.

In other Liverpool news, former Premier League striker Troy Deeney recently claimed that Alexis Mac Allister has been more impressive than Salah in recent performances, praising his all-around contributions and playmaking ability.
