Manchester United has reportedly set an asking price for Alejandro Garnacho after Serie A club Napoli expressed interest in the Argentine winger. Garnacho has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford recently as United looks to raise funds to meet financial sustainability requirements.
Under these regulations, homegrown players like Garnacho, who came through the club’s academy, hold higher value—potentially four times more than non-academy players.
It was revealed last month that Atlético Madrid’s manager Diego Simeone was keen on signing the 20-year-old, amid rumors that Antoine Griezmann might depart at the end of the 2024/25 season.
Now, Napoli’s manager Antonio Conte is also reportedly interested in Garnacho, with sporting director Giovanni Manna actively working on a potential deal. According to Sport Italia, Manchester United has set a €50 million (£42 million) price tag for the winger.
This development comes as Napoli’s Khvicha Kvaratskhelia is expected to join Paris Saint-Germain. Kvaratskhelia has reportedly agreed to a five-year contract with PSG, which will see him earn significantly more than he did at Napoli. Ahead of Napoli’s match against Verona, Conte confirmed Kvaratskhelia’s request to leave in the January transfer window.
He expressed disappointment at the player’s decision and explained that despite his efforts to make Kvaratskhelia feel integral to the project, the winger decided to move on.
