Napoli are reportedly eyeing Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho as a potential replacement for Khvicha Kvaratskhelia. Under the management of Antonio Conte, the Serie A club is said to be interested in bringing Garnacho in to fill the void left by Kvaratskhelia, who is rumored to be moving to Paris Saint-Germain on a lucrative deal. Conte seems prepared to lose the Georgian forward, having acknowledged his desire to depart.
According to Sport Italia, Manchester United have set a £42 million price tag on Garnacho, who has struggled for game time under new manager Ruben Amorim. The 20-year-old has not started a match since United’s 3-2 loss to Nottingham Forest on December 7 and, like Marcus Rashford, has had difficulty adjusting to Amorim’s tactical system.
Conte and Napoli sporting director Giovanni Manna are reportedly united in their vision for Garnacho’s role at the club, and efforts are underway to secure the transfer, which would make headlines.
Since making his debut for Manchester United as a teenager, Garnacho has made 115 appearances, scoring 23 goals. After reaching double figures last season, he appeared on the verge of becoming a breakout star. However, his progress has stagnated this season amid significant changes at the club, both under Erik ten Hag and now Amorim.
In a recent 2-2 draw against Liverpool, a tactical shift saw Bruno Fernandes play as a left-sided forward and Amad Diallo on the right, while Garnacho was limited to a 20-minute substitute appearance.
Financial constraints mean Manchester United are unlikely to make significant moves in the January transfer window unless they sell players. Reports suggest that Garnacho and fellow academy graduate Kobbie Mainoo could be sold if the right offers come in.
Despite this, Amorim remains determined to retain the club’s key young talents. Speaking on the matter, he said, “I really love my players. I want to keep my players, especially the talented ones. It’s a special moment in this club—a difficult moment—but I’m really happy with Kobbie and Garna. They are improving, and our idea is always to keep the best players who represent the future of this club.”
Napoli’s interest in Garnacho highlights the growing recognition of his potential, even during a challenging period at Manchester United.
