This win marked Barcelona’s 15th Spanish Super Cup title, surpassing Real Madrid’s 13. According to the Spanish newspaper El Nacional, German coach Hansi Flick was thrilled to claim his first trophy with Barcelona, especially given the dominant performance of the team in the final.
The report highlighted that the player who particularly impressed Flick was Uruguayan defender Ronald Araujo. Araujo, who came on as a substitute for the injured Inigo Martinez, quickly made an impact with his strong defensive play. His efforts frustrated Real Madrid’s attackers, preventing them from narrowing the scoreline.
The newspaper further noted that after the match, Flick personally told Araujo that his remarkable display had secured him a place in the starting lineup.
Araujo is set to replace Martinez in the upcoming fixtures, as Flick believes that Araujo, along with Coparci, Balde, and Kounde, will form Barcelona’s best defensive quartet for the remainder of the season.
