Following the crushing defeat, Italian coach Carlo Ancelotti was reportedly consumed by frustration and disappointment, as detailed by the Spanish newspaper Defensa Central. He was particularly angry with Lucas Vazquez, Ferland Mendy, and Aurelien Tchouameni, who were singled out for their poor performances in the El Clasico. Ancelotti reprimanded them after the trophy presentation and made the immediate decision to drop them from Real Madrid’s starting lineup for the remainder of the season.
The report also highlighted Ancelotti’s discontent with Vinicius Junior and Jude Bellingham, whom he had relied on heavily for the title. Both players, however, delivered subpar performances and were among the worst on the field.
In a rare move, club president Florentino Pérez went to the locker room to criticize Ancelotti, blaming him for the embarrassing loss. Pérez reportedly instructed Ancelotti to permanently exclude the trio of Vazquez, Tchouameni, and Mendy from the lineup until they were sold, citing their series of poor performances this season.
Furthermore, Pérez expressed his anger toward Vinicius Junior’s lackluster display, warning the Brazilian that if he didn’t improve, his contract renewal could be at risk, and he might be sold.
In contrast, Pérez took time to console Kylian Mbappé, who was one of the few bright spots for Real Madrid in the match, commending him for his dedication and telling him, “If everyone played with the same passion and spirit as you, things would be very different.”
