With the January 1 deadline now passed, foreign clubs are free to negotiate pre-contract agreements with the trio, should they opt for this route. This situation is particularly worrying for Alexander-Arnold, with Real Madrid reportedly showing strong interest in the Liverpool vice-captain.
Liverpool Responding to Trent Alexander-Arnold Exit Rumors
Despite ongoing rumors, Alexander-Arnold has not yet made a final decision about his future. However, Liverpool’s recruitment team, led by Richard Hughes, is already preparing for the possibility of his departure. According to Sky Sports’ Sacha Tavolieri, Bayern Munich’s Joshua Kimmich has emerged as a priority replacement.
“Liverpool have been in direct contact with Kimmich’s representatives, making him their top target in case of Alexander-Arnold’s exit,” Tavolieri reported. “His ability to play both in midfield and at right-back is highly valued by Liverpool’s recruitment team, which is reassuring to their American shareholders, who are worried about losing one of their top defenders.”
Liverpool is reportedly willing to offer up to €25 million this winter to secure Kimmich’s signature, should the need arise. Talks with his representatives are already in progress, with Liverpool aiming to gain Kimmich’s approval before entering formal discussions with Bayern Munich.
Kimmich: The Ideal Stopgap?
At 29, Kimmich is nearing 30, which typically doesn’t fit Liverpool’s usual recruitment strategy. However, his experience and versatility make him an attractive short-term solution, especially as the club views Conor Bradley as a potential long-term right-back option.
Bringing Kimmich into the squad would also provide valuable depth in midfield, where his leadership and quality could ease the workload on players like Ryan Gravenberch.
Although Alexander-Arnold’s future is still uncertain, Liverpool’s proactive approach highlights their commitment to ensuring their squad remains strong and adaptable.
