Chelsea are looking to buy the next Reece James in the transfer market

Chelsea are reportedly interested in signing the next Reece James, with a focus on potential replacements for Renato Veiga.

The 21-year-old defender, who joined last summer, may be pushing for a move in search of more regular first-team action, primarily in a centre-back role, despite mostly playing as a left-back at Chelsea. If Veiga departs, Chelsea will need to fill that position.

One possible candidate is Patrick Dorgu, a talented left-back from Lecce. Chelsea previously made a £35 million bid for the 20-year-old last summer, which was turned down. With the potential exit of Veiga, Dorgu could now be a strong option for the club.

Dorgu has shown impressive versatility and attacking flair, even playing as a right-winger this season. His offensive skills could be valuable to Chelsea, particularly against defensive teams.

Much like Malo Gusto, who impressed after joining as an unknown, Dorgu has similar potential and could make an immediate impact at Stamford Bridge.

Additionally, Dorgu is a Chelsea fan, which could serve as extra motivation for him to succeed. If Chelsea’s budget is constrained, manager Enzo Maresca might also consider promoting academy player Ishe Samuels-Smith, as he has already shown a preference for integrating youth into the first team this season.

In summary, if Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali opt to make a move, Dorgu should be a top target to replace Renato Veiga due to his talent, versatility, and passion for the club.
