Chelsea are reportedly in talks to secure Borussia Dortmund winger Jamie Bynoe-Gittens, with the club eyeing a potential transfer deal worth £84.5 million.
The Blues are on the lookout for a new left winger and have identified Bynoe-Gittens as a top target, alongside Manchester United’s Alejandro Garnacho. However, it remains unclear whether Chelsea will push for a move this January or hold off until the summer.
Bynoe-Gittens has a history in West London, having spent part of his youth career in the capital before playing for Reading and Manchester City, eventually joining Dortmund in 2020.
Now at 20 years old, he’s valued at €100 million (£84.5 million), following a promising development at Dortmund.
Karl-Heinz Riedle, the former German international, has praised Bynoe-Gittens, comparing him to stars like Jadon Sancho and Erling Haaland.
Riedle described him as “very quick, excels in one-on-one situations, and has strong finishing ability,” adding that the young winger “has the full package” and is continually improving.
Bynoe-Gittens has become a key player for Dortmund this season after a period of inconsistency. Under coach Nuri Şahin, he’s enjoyed a breakthrough, and his 11 goals and five assists in 26 appearances have sparked growing interest from Premier League clubs.
Chelsea’s interest in Bynoe-Gittens could provide manager Enzo Maresca with a potent attacking option.
However, the club may choose to hold off on a move until the summer, with the young winger’s stellar performances only increasing the likelihood of a high-profile transfer in the near future.
