Arsenal is preparing to offload three key players in order to facilitate the signing of their primary transfer target. The club aims to make space and raise funds for the acquisition of a high-caliber striker.
Reports suggest that Mikel Arteta is open to selling a player with 79 appearances for the club in January, as he seeks a potential replacement who has experience winning the UEFA Champions League.
A significant sale this winter could help Arsenal strengthen their attack with a top striker if the right opportunity presents itself. One player on the radar is Newcastle’s Alexander Isak, but it’s expected to cost around £150 million to secure his signature.
To generate the necessary funds, Arsenal could part ways with Oleksandr Zinchenko and the disgruntled Jakub Kiwior, freeing up both financial resources and squad space for a major signing.
Zinchenko, who joined Arsenal from Manchester City in 2022, has seen his role at the club diminish this season. The Ukrainian defender has started only twice in the Premier League and has played just once since the opening weekend. It’s reported that he could be on the move, with interest from other clubs.
Last summer, Arsenal signed Riccardo Calafiori, one of the top-rated left-backs in Europe, signaling Arteta’s intentions to strengthen his options in the position. However, both Calafiori and Zinchenko have struggled with injuries this season.
Myles Lewis-Skelly, regarded as one of the most promising young players, has even been favored over both Zinchenko and Calafiori, starting ahead of them in recent matches. In the FA Cup game against Manchester United, Zinchenko was left on the bench, with Kieran Tierney—who he replaced at Arsenal—coming on in extra time.
