Meanwhile, Alejandro Garnacho, a key target for Antonio Conte’s Napoli, has been linked with a possible move to Leicester under Enzo Maresca’s management. The speculation grew after his agent posted a picture of him watching the game from the stands. Fabrizio Romano shared the photo on X (formerly Twitter), sparking a strong reaction from Manchester United fans.
One fan expressed, “If he joins Chelsea, it’s the ultimate betrayal.” Another fan criticized the club’s owners, saying, “The Glazers weren’t this bad… INEOS is selling one of our best academy prospects for money, because they can’t spend on their own.” Other supporters shared their frustration, calling the move a mistake and expressing that they weren’t ready for it.
Garnacho is reportedly valued at around £70 million by United, though the proposed offer from Napoli is significantly lower.
Paul Scholes, however, would not be overly concerned if Garnacho were sold. He pointed out that, as an academy graduate, Garnacho’s sale would be a profitable one for Manchester United. Scholes noted that while Garnacho shows potential, his technique and decision-making still need improvement.
He added that United could likely find a better player in the market, but he would be more upset if someone like Kobbie Mainoo were sold.
Garnacho, who broke through during the 2022/23 season, has made 188 appearances for United, scoring 23 goals, including in both the FA Cup and Community Shield finals.
