Jamie Carragher Responds After Mo Salah Accuses Him of Being ‘Obsessed With Me’

Jamie Carragher has reacted to Mohamed Salah’s suggestion that he is obsessed with him, following their ongoing clash over contract issues involving the Liverpool star.

In recent weeks, Carragher has been critical of Salah’s approach to his contract talks, especially after Salah publicly stated that the negotiations with Liverpool are far from reaching an agreement. On Monday, the 32-year-old posted a cryptic tweet featuring himself alongside Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil van Dijk, whose contracts also expire next summer.

When questioned about the tweet, Carragher commented that both Alexander-Arnold and Salah could learn from Van Dijk’s more private handling of contract matters, which led Salah to accuse Carragher of having an obsession with him.

In response, Salah tweeted: “I’m starting to think you’re obsessed with me,” a comment that was later shown to Carragher during Monday Night Football.

Carragher then admitted he does have an obsession with Salah, but clarified that it is strictly related to football: “I mean, I have got a Mo Salah obsession. I don’t think it’s the type of obsession that he thinks it is. It’s more of a footballing obsession and watching him in a red shirt. I come in, I get asked a question and I answer as diplomatically as I possibly can. I’m not going to criticise Mo Salah or Trent Alexander-Arnold. I’m going to rave about how Virgil van Dijk has handled it and I get myself in all sorts of trouble!”

Carragher also responded directly to Salah’s tweet, saying: “I’ve always been obsessed with you. Hopefully that obsession will continue next season.”

Despite the uncertainty surrounding his future, Salah scored his 18th Premier League goal of the season in the 2-2 draw with Manchester United.

He currently leads both the goals and assists charts, playing a vital role in helping Liverpool maintain a six-point lead at the top of the Premier League.
