Mohamed Salah has responded sharply to Jamie Carragher after the Sky Sports pundit commented on his contract situation during Monday Night Football.
Carragher, a Liverpool legend, has frequently discussed Salah’s contract over the past few months as the 32-year-old enters the final six months of his current deal.
Before the match between Wolves and Nottingham Forest, Carragher suggested that Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold should take inspiration from Virgil van Dijk when dealing with contract speculation.
He praised van Dijk for handling the situation with maturity and professionalism, stating that the Dutch defender’s leadership and performances have earned him greater respect this season.
Carragher was responding to a social media post from Salah showing him with Alexander-Arnold and van Dijk after Liverpool’s 2-2 draw with Manchester United, all three of whom are out of contract this summer.
While acknowledging the importance of the situation for all three players, Carragher chose to highlight van Dijk’s composure, saying, “The other two could maybe look at Virgil van Dijk and take a leaf out of his book.”
While Monday Night Football was still airing, Salah hit back on social media, writing, “I’m starting to think you’re obsessed with me,” accompanied by a wink emoji.
Carragher quickly responded, saying, “I’ve always been obsessed with you, hopefully that obsession will continue next season,” with a crossed-fingers emoji.
