Arsenal have received a significant boost in their pursuit of Alexander Isak, as reports suggest they can now sign the striker at a reduced price.
Isak is having another impressive season, with 19 goals in 29 appearances. The Swedish forward has notably scored twice against Arsenal this season and caused problems for defenders William Saliba and Gabriel during their League Cup semi-final on February 5.
Jamie Carragher recently called Isak the best centre-forward in the Premier League this season, while Fabrizio Romano confirmed that the Sweden international is Arsenal’s top target for the No. 9 role, alongside RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko.
Arsenal had previously been put off by Newcastle’s hefty £150m (€180m / $189m) asking price. However, it was recently revealed that his price had dropped to £120m (€144m / $151m), and now reports indicate that he could be available for a much more affordable €100m (£83.3m / $105m) this summer.
This price reduction stems from Newcastle’s potential failure to qualify for the Champions League, which would force them to lower their asking price. Isak is determined to compete in the tournament and prove himself as one of the world’s top strikers. With Newcastle currently sitting seventh after a 4-0 loss to Manchester City, they still face competition from Bournemouth, Chelsea, Aston Villa, and Fulham for a Champions League spot.
Arsenal face competition for Isak from several clubs, including Liverpool, Barcelona, and Chelsea, all eager to sign him. As the summer transfer window approaches, Isak’s future is set to be a major topic of discussion, with Arsenal keen to secure his services.
In addition to Isak, Arsenal are reportedly considering a £83m offer for RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko and are in advanced talks with Real Sociedad’s Martin Zubimendi for a potential move to strengthen their midfield.
