Liverpool are reportedly one of four top clubs vying for the signature of former Manchester United player Mason Greenwood, according to sensational reports.
The Reds are expected to have a busy summer transfer window after making just one signing, Federico Chiesa, in the past two windows. It is believed Liverpool are targeting a new forward, with Darwin Nunez potentially involved in a swap deal for a Premier League star.
Spanish outlet Fichajes has revealed that Liverpool are now keen on signing Greenwood, who joined Marseille from Manchester United last summer. Alongside Liverpool, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, and Juventus are all reportedly competing for the 23-year-old forward’s signature.
Greenwood moved to Marseille in a deal worth £26.6 million and has enjoyed a strong run of form, scoring 15 goals in all competitions this season, including 14 league goals in 23 matches.
Marseille are aware of his value and have set a hefty £62 million asking price, a sum that could be beyond Barcelona’s reach. However, Liverpool, Bayern, and Juventus are all said to be willing to meet the asking price.
Greenwood was briefly linked with Barcelona before joining Marseille and had a successful loan spell at Getafe, scoring 10 goals. His impressive performances in Ligue 1 have drawn the attention of Europe’s top clubs, with reports suggesting he is back on the radar of the biggest teams.
