LIVERPOOL – Tottenham sign Liverpool defender in late deadline day move

Tottenham Signs Liverpool Defender in Deadline Day Move

Tottenham Hotspur has finalized the signing of a Liverpool defender just days before their Carabao Cup clash against the Reds.

Earlier today, it was reported that Radu Dragusin had suffered an ACL injury, ruling him out for the remainder of the season.

This setback comes at a time when Tottenham has already been dealing with a series of injuries, which has contributed to their recent struggles under manager Ange Postecoglou.

In light of these ongoing issues, Tottenham has been actively seeking reinforcements, with numerous transfer rumors circulating throughout the day. So far, Spurs have signed Kevin Danso and had a bid for Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi rejected, while also reopening talks for Chelsea’s Axel Disasi.

Now, according to The Standard, Tottenham has agreed to terms to bring in 18-year-old Liverpool defender Luca Furnell-Gill.

Furnell-Gill, a central defender, joined Liverpool from Preston North End at the age of 14. He made his debut for the club’s under-18s as a 16-year-old in the 2022-23 season and spent the 2023-24 campaign as a first-year scholar. Originally brought in as a winger, he later transitioned to a defensive role while at Liverpool.

It appears that Furnell-Gill’s career will now continue at Tottenham, as part of a double swoop for young talents from rival academies, which also includes Manchester City’s 18-year-old Daniel Batty.

Both players are expected to join Tottenham’s academy rather than the first team this season, with the goal of further developing in North London.

Details surrounding Furnell-Gill’s move remain unclear, but Liverpool fans will be keeping an eye on his development away from the club in the coming years.
