Everton took an early 1-0 lead in the 11th minute after a well-executed free-kick allowed Beto to score past Alisson Becker. However, Liverpool quickly responded five minutes later, with Alexis Mac Allister heading in a brilliant cross from Salah to level the score.
That assist marked Salah’s career-high 14th of the season, and in doing so, he set a new Premier League record, becoming the first player in history to be directly involved in 22 away goals in a single campaign. Salah now boasts 13 goals and 9 assists in 13 away matches this season.
This feat surpassed the previous record of 21 away goals set by Andy Cole in the 1993/94 season with Newcastle. Salah later scored Liverpool’s second goal against Everton, bringing his tally to 22.
With several matches still remaining, Salah has the opportunity to further enhance his record in what could be his most outstanding season for Liverpool since his arrival from Roma in 2017. Currently, he leads the Premier League in assists, with 14, ahead of Bukayo Saka and Antonee Robinson, who each have 10.
In all competitions, Salah has contributed to a staggering 49 goals, highlighting his pivotal role for Liverpool.
However, with his contract set to expire in the summer, there are growing concerns that Salah may leave the club. Former teammate Dejan Lovren revealed that Salah feels the club hasn’t shown him the respect he deserves, which has left his future uncertain.
Despite this, Lovren noted that Salah loves Liverpool and still desires to stay, though discussions behind the scenes may ultimately determine his next move.
