Real Madrid’s defensive struggles have reportedly put Virgil van Dijk back in the spotlight, with the club showing interest in signing the Dutch defender next summer, according to El Nacional.

Along with Bayern Munich and Juventus, Real Madrid is one of three clubs monitoring van Dijk’s situation.

The report states that van Dijk has already received an offer from Real Madrid, but the Spanish club faces stiff competition. Both Bayern and Juventus are also in the market for defensive reinforcements, and van Dijk is seen as an ideal candidate.

Real Madrid’s defense has been hit hard by injuries, with key players such as Eder Militao, David Alaba, Antonio Rudiger, and Dani Carvajal sidelined. Recently, Lucas Vazquez has also joined the growing list of absentees.

The club views van Dijk’s experience and leadership as vital for bolstering their defense, and the possibility of signing him on a free transfer only adds to the appeal of the move.
