According to the referee’s report, Bellingham reportedly said “F*** you” to the official. If this claim is confirmed, Bellingham could face a suspension of between four to twelve matches under La Liga’s regulations for insulting a referee.
However, Real Madrid’s manager, Carlo Ancelotti, has defended Bellingham, suggesting that there was a misunderstanding due to a language barrier.
Ancelotti believes that the referee misinterpreted Bellingham’s words, which were intended to be “F*** off, if this is a foul, the other is a penalty,” and that this led to the unjust red card.
The incident has overshadowed the match, where Kylian Mbappe’s 15th-minute goal was canceled out in the second half. Despite being down to 10 men, Real Madrid managed to secure a draw, showing strong defense. Their focus now shifts to their upcoming UEFA Champions League playoff against Manchester City on February 19.
