Fabrizio Romano provides an update on Real Madrid’s pursuit of Trent Alexander-Arnold, confirming that the Liverpool vice-captain remains their top target.

A year has passed since Real Madrid first showed interest in the player, and despite his contract with Liverpool expiring in just three and a half months, the La Liga giants are unwavering in their pursuit.

Romano shared insights on his YouTube channel, explaining that Real Madrid is fully committed to signing Trent, considering him the perfect addition to their squad. They have already discussed potential salary offers internally. According to Romano, Trent is not just their first, second, or third option, but also their fourth and fifth choice for the right-back position. Real Madrid believes that Trent will be playing for them next season, though they remain aware that Liverpool will continue their efforts to extend his contract.

Meanwhile, Liverpool fans may be nervous after their team’s recent defeat to Paris Saint-Germain, while Real Madrid’s Champions League win over Atletico Madrid keeps their title aspirations alive. Given Real Madrid’s exceptional Champions League record, it’s possible Trent could be considering a move, especially if he feels his best chance to win the trophy again is with the Spanish side. However, he is likely to finish this season as a two-time Premier League champion with Liverpool.

As Real Madrid remains determined in their efforts, Liverpool’s owners, FSG, need to act quickly to persuade Trent to stay at Anfield, offering him reasons to remain at his boyhood club beyond this summer.
