Arsenal has officially secured its second transfer deal of the summer, with reports stating the club accepted the bid “instantly.”

With summer transfer activities on the horizon, Arsenal has reportedly already secured two deals. Despite trailing Liverpool by 13 points with only 11 matches remaining, the club is focused on strengthening its squad for the future. Manager Mikel Arteta has faced a challenging season, especially with key players like Kai Havertz, Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli, and Gabriel Jesus sidelined due to injuries.
After a goalless draw with Nottingham Forest, Arteta acknowledged the team’s need to adjust to the current squad, adding that the focus for the remainder of the season will be on the Champions League. This has led to expectations of substantial changes to the squad during the summer.
Potential Departures and Squad Changes
Several players are expected to leave this summer, including Oleksandr Zinchenko, Kieran Tierney, Leandro Trossard, Jakub Kiwior, Fabio Vieira, and Reiss Nelson. Furthermore, first-team players Thomas Partey and Jorginho are nearing the end of their contracts.

Amid potential exits, journalist Sami Mokbel from The Mail recently reported that a move for Martin Zubimendi is “virtually complete.” It also seems Arsenal is nearing another agreement. According to Spanish media outlet AS, goalkeeper Joan Garcia from Espanyol, who has been frequently linked with Arsenal, could soon make the move.
Last summer, Arsenal had an agreement in place for Garcia but opted not to trigger his release clause, instead choosing to loan Neto from Bournemouth. AS reports that Espanyol is now willing to accept a €20 million offer for Garcia, matching the amount they previously rejected, and Arsenal is ready to move forward without hesitation.
The Goalkeeper Situation
Arsenal is looking for a long-term backup goalkeeper to challenge David Raya. Although Espanyol is reportedly willing to accept a reduced fee for Garcia—two-thirds of his release clause, which rises to €30 million if he represents Spain—it seems unlikely Arsenal would spend €80 million on both Zubimendi and Garcia without installment options. Given the need for a striker, Arteta may need to reconsider the strategy for securing Garcia or explore a less expensive backup goalkeeper.
