Liverpool are reportedly considering a massive move for Atlético Madrid forward Julián Álvarez, with sources suggesting the club is preparing a staggering £142 million offer.
Renowned transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Liverpool are closely monitoring the Argentine star as they plan a major squad overhaul in the summer of 2025.
Romano stated: “Liverpool have a concrete interest in Julián Álvarez. A potential bid of around £142 million has been discussed internally. Atlético Madrid see him as a key part of their future, but in football, anything can happen.”
Álvarez, who joined Atlético from Manchester City last summer, has been in outstanding form, scoring 23 goals and providing 5 assists in 45 appearances. His versatility as a striker, attacking midfielder, or left winger makes him an ideal fit for Liverpool, especially with uncertainty surrounding Mohamed Salah’s future.
Despite their ongoing Premier League title push, Liverpool remain focused on reinforcing their squad following their Champions League exit and Carabao Cup final loss. New manager Arne Slot is eager to bring in marquee signings, and Álvarez has emerged as a top target.
However, Atlético Madrid are determined to keep the 25-year-old, who is under contract until 2029/30 and is seen as a crucial part of their long-term project. With Liverpool ramping up their interest, the summer transfer window could see a fierce battle for Álvarez’s signature.
