Gary Neville was allowed to say something outrageous during Liverpool vs Newcastle

Liverpool supporters were left shocked by Gary Neville’s remarks during Sky Sports’ coverage of the Carabao Cup final against Newcastle over the weekend.

YNewcastle took the lead just before halftime with a powerful header from Dan Burn, followed by Alexander Isak doubling their advantage early in the second half.

However, Liverpool felt they deserved a penalty when Kieran Trippier appeared to handle the ball while challenging Luis Díaz in the box. Initially suggesting it might be a penalty, Neville later contradicted himself by stating that such decisions wouldn’t be given in England, causing confusion among viewers.

Fans took to social media to criticize his comments, questioning whether refereeing standards differ between England and Europe.

Meanwhile, VAR ruled that Trippier’s arm position was natural for balance, and pundits Shay Given and Jamie Carragher ultimately agreed that awarding a penalty would have been harsh.
