Liverpool is currently managing the contract situations of several key players, including Mohamed Salah, Virgil Van Dijk, and Trent Alexander-Arnold, all of whom will become free agents at the end of the season unless new deals are agreed. Another player facing uncertainty is Ibrahima Konate, as the French defender has not yet agreed to extend his contract with the club despite an offer being made.

According to Defensa Central (via Teamtalk), if Liverpool fails to convince Konate to stay, they may propose a swap deal with Real Madrid involving Brazilian forward Rodrygo. Rodrygo has been impressive this season, contributing six goals and five assists in 23 appearances for Madrid. Despite his strong performances, he often goes under the radar with stars like Kylian Mbappe, Jude Bellingham, and Vinicius Junior drawing more attention.

Madrid is looking to strengthen their defense, and Konate is reportedly one of their potential targets. In this scenario, Liverpool could offer Konate in exchange for Rodrygo.

Konate has been a key player for Liverpool this season, playing an essential role in their success in both the Premier League and the Champions League. As a reliable partner to Van Dijk in defense, Konate provides stability at the back. His contract runs until the summer of 2026, but Liverpool may need to make a decision on his future this summer to avoid losing him for free next year.

Liverpool’s potential interest in Rodrygo could also be a sign that they are preparing for life without Salah, who has been linked with a move to the Saudi Pro League. Although Salah has expressed his desire to remain at the club, he is unhappy with the terms offered, which could lead to his departure.
