Now, PSG is gearing up for the return leg at Anfield next Tuesday, and they remain determined to turn the tie around. With hopes of advancing to the quarter-finals, where they could face Aston Villa, the mood in the PSG camp is far from defeated.
“We should have won,” said Vitinha after the match, speaking to Canal+. “They scored from their only chance, but we’ll show who we are in the next match. It’s been a while since we’ve lost, and now it’s up to us to demonstrate our strength and character. That’s what a real team does. We’re going to Anfield, we’ll play well, score, and go through—I’m confident of that.”
Vitinha also dismissed any excuses, such as the non-red card for Ibrahima Konaté’s challenge on Bradley Barcola. “I’m staying optimistic. We played well, and with the chances we had, we definitely deserved to win. Of course, the only thing that matters is putting the ball in the net, but we’re getting closer to that. I’m sure it’ll happen in Liverpool. We’ll show our character and win.”
