Trent Alexander-Arnold has responded after a viral video surfaced showing a Liverpool fan burning his jersey in frustration over speculation linking him to Real Madrid.
A widely shared clip on social media platform X shows an angry fan setting fire to the back of Alexander-Arnold’s shirt and holding it up to the camera, reflecting growing discontent among Liverpool supporters. Many fans have even called for manager Arne Slot to bench the right-back for the remainder of the season.
One fan wrote: “Don’t let him play another game. Don’t let him set foot at Anfield when we lift the trophy.”
After witnessing the backlash, Alexander-Arnold has now addressed the situation. In an official statement, the Liverpool vice-captain said:
“I’ve given everything for this club since I was a kid. Seeing that video hurts, but I can’t control how people react. Whatever happens, my love for Liverpool will never change.”
Despite fan outrage, Alexander-Arnold has yet to confirm his next move. Reports suggest Real Madrid has already reached an agreement with him, but neither the player nor the clubs have made an official announcement.
Could Alexander-Arnold Leave Before June 30?
Liverpool supporters are concerned that their star right-back could leave before his contract expires on June 30. With Real Madrid preparing for the FIFA Club World Cup starting June 18, the Spanish giants reportedly want him registered early to participate.
According to Sky Sports, Real Madrid would either need to negotiate an early release with Liverpool or wait until July 1 to sign him on a free transfer.
A Sky Sports source stated: “If Real Madrid wants Alexander-Arnold for the Club World Cup group stage, they will have to negotiate with Liverpool.”
