BREAKING: Liverpool Could Have the Chance to Sign a Bayern Munich Midfielder

Liverpool might be presented with the opportunity to reignite their interest in Joao Palhinha, as uncertainty surrounds his future at Bayern Munich.

The Portuguese midfielder, once heavily linked with a move to Anfield during his time at Fulham, chose to join Bayern in the summer of 2023 instead. However, he has struggled to secure a regular starting role in Germany, raising questions about his long-term place in the squad.

According to CaughtOffside, Palhinha’s representatives are now exploring a potential return to the Premier League, with Liverpool named among the possible destinations.

Bayern could be open to selling the 29-year-old as they shift focus toward renewing Leon Goretzka’s contract, making a summer transfer increasingly likely.

Returning to England appears to be a priority for Palhinha, and Liverpool may offer the right environment—similar to their 2020 signing of Thiago Alcantara from Bayern.

Despite limited appearances, Palhinha has delivered strong performances. Stats from FBref rank him among Europe’s elite midfielders: top 2% in tackles, top 10% in blocks, top 9% in aerial duels, and top 8% in pass completion among players in Europe’s top five leagues.

Still, it remains uncertain whether he would start regularly at Liverpool, given the current presence of Alexis Mac Allister and Ryan Gravenberch. He may be seen more as a squad option, which could influence both his interest in the move and the club’s decision—especially with his 30th birthday approaching in July and recent injury concerns.

Ultimately, any deal would depend on Bayern’s asking price and Palhinha’s willingness to accept a rotational role in Klopp’s reshaped midfield.
