Martin Zubimendi Favors Real Madrid Move Over Arsenal, Reports Say
According to Spanish journalist Santi Aouna, Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi is leaning towards a transfer to Real Madrid, despite Arsenal also showing serious interest ahead of the summer transfer window. Aouna, writing via Footmercato and sharing updates on X, revealed that Zubimendi is primarily focused on joining the La Liga giants.
Arsenal recently made headlines by dominating Real Madrid in their Champions League quarterfinal matches, winning 3-0 at home and 2-1 away. Still, they may fall short in their bid to land Zubimendi, who appears to have his heart set on a move to the Santiago Bernabeu.
Real Madrid are reportedly very keen on bringing the Spaniard in and have already outlined their vision for him at the club. The summer transfer window will determine whether they can secure his signature.
This season, Zubimendi has been a consistent performer for Real Sociedad, scoring two goals and providing two assists in 42 matches across all competitions. His current market value stands at €60 million, and he remains under contract with the Basque club until 2027.
What’s Next for Arsenal and Real Madrid?
Following their triumph over Madrid in Europe, Arsenal will turn their focus back to the Premier League with an upcoming fixture against Ipswich Town on Sunday, April 20.
Real Madrid, on the other hand, will aim to stay in the La Liga title race as they prepare to face Athletic Bilbao at home. They also have a Copa del Rey final against Barcelona lined up for April 26.
