Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim has shared his views on a player’s showing during their latest Premier League clash with Bournemouth.
The game, played at the Vitality Stadium, saw Bournemouth control much of the first half. Antoine Semenyo opened the scoring in the 23rd minute with a precise finish past Andre Onana.
Bournemouth maintained their 1-0 lead into halftime but couldn’t hold on. After Evanilson was shown a red card in the 70th minute, United took advantage, with Rasmus Hojlund netting a stoppage-time equalizer.
The match finished in a draw, leaving United in 14th place, with only four league fixtures remaining. They are now winless in their last five league games and appear set to miss out on a top-ten finish.
Elsewhere, Amorim commented on Luke Shaw’s return to the starting lineup after a lengthy injury absence. Shaw featured for the full 90 minutes in a three-man backline and earned praise from fans for his solid display.
After the match, Amorim commended Shaw’s impact, particularly in attacking transitions, noting his sharp vision and quality passing. “It’s vital,” he told BBC Match of the Day. “We have to monitor his fitness, but once the red card happened, he was essential in attacking that space. He delivers excellent passes in the final third.”
Looking ahead to their Europa League semi-final against Athletic Club, Amorim played down the significance of the Bournemouth draw, saying, “We dropped two points, but this is a completely different challenge.”
United previously knocked out Lyon in the quarter-finals and now travel to Bilbao for the first leg of the semi-final against Athletic Club.
