Bernardo Silva Ready to Accept Pay Cut for Potential Barcelona Move: Reports

Bernardo Silva Ready to Accept Pay Cut for Potential Barcelona Move: Reports

According to recent reports, Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva is willing to lower his wages to join Spanish giants Barcelona during the upcoming summer transfer window. The Portuguese international has been linked with a possible departure from the Etihad Stadium, as Pep Guardiola is expected to make significant changes to his squad.

Silva, who joined City from Monaco in 2017, has been a consistent performer and played a key role in their treble-winning 2022–23 campaign. However, this season has seen a slight reduction in his role under Guardiola. Despite that, Silva has still managed three goals and four assists in 41 appearances across competitions.

As per SPORT (via Barca Universal), Silva is eager to move to Barcelona, even if it means accepting lower wages due to the club’s ongoing financial issues. While clubs from Saudi Arabia have also shown interest, Silva’s preference is to remain in top-tier European football.

The report claims that Barcelona are aware of Silva’s intentions and have already spoken with his agent, Jorge Mendes. They’re open to exploring a deal depending on their financial situation. Silva’s current contract with Manchester City runs until 2026, but the club is reportedly open to negotiating a transfer if a suitable offer comes in. City are believed to value him at around €50 million, which could be a stumbling block for Barcelona. If the Catalans don’t act, Silva may consider a move to the Middle East, though Camp Nou remains his first choice.

Manchester City Eyeing €200 Million Move for Pedri

In a separate report from Fichajes.net (via Barca Universal), Manchester City are said to be preparing a massive €200 million offer for Barcelona’s young star Pedri. City have been exploring midfield reinforcements and had previously shown interest in Bayer Leverkusen’s Florian Wirtz, but Pedri has now become their top target.

Pedri has had an impressive season, contributing five goals and seven assists in 49 appearances. His technical skills and vision have drawn comparisons to Barcelona legend Andrés Iniesta. City believe signing a player of his caliber could help them return to peak form.

However, Barcelona have made it clear they have no plans to sell Pedri. The 21-year-old recently extended his contract with the club until 2030 and has shown no desire to leave, making a deal highly unlikely.
