Although Liverpool had initially shown interest, the coach claimed, “Ruben is a very good friend of mine, which is why I convinced my top player to sign with us. I even pleaded with him to turn down Liverpool’s offer and accept Manchester United’s deal instead.” He added that his £80M-rated player is now inclined to join Manchester United after being urged to reject the Liverpool move.
Manchester United are currently in need of attacking midfielders, especially with Mason Mount sidelined by injury and uncertainties surrounding the futures of Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho.
