Mo Salah is officially staying at Liverpool after signing a new two-year deal, which will keep him at the club until 2027. His previous contract was set to expire in the summer of 2025, along with those of teammates Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil van Dijk.
Liverpool announced the extension early Friday morning via their official X (formerly Twitter) account, sparking excitement among fans.
The 32-year-old forward expressed his joy in a statement on the club’s website:
“I’m absolutely delighted. We’ve got a great squad, and I believe we can continue winning trophies. These eight years have been the highlight of my career—I’d love to make it ten. I’m enjoying every part of my life and football here.”
Salah also shared a message with fans, saying, “I’m really happy to stay. Keep supporting us, and we’ll keep fighting to bring trophies back to Anfield.”
According to Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg, Salah’s new deal keeps his £400,000-a-week salary intact. Despite persistent transfer rumors linking him to the Saudi Pro League, Salah is fully committed to continuing his journey on Merseyside.
With Salah’s future now secured, attention may shift to Van Dijk, who is also in the final stretch of his current deal. Though both players are in their 30s, their continued high-level performances likely played a big role in Liverpool’s decision to offer long-term commitments.
