Manchester United are reportedly exploring the possibility of signing former Chelsea striker Timo Werner, known for his exceptional pace, as a potential replacement for Anthony Martial.
According to Sky Germany, United have shown interest in the RB Leipzig forward and have made an initial inquiry about his availability ahead of the January transfer window.
Werner, who rejoined Leipzig in 2022, is believed to be unhappy with his limited playing time this season. Despite scoring 16 goals last campaign, the 27-year-old has found the net only twice in eight Bundesliga matches this term, playing a total of just 203 minutes.
Although no formal offer has been made and discussions are yet to begin, Werner is reportedly among the players under consideration by United boss Erik ten Hag. In addition to United, clubs like Real Madrid, Fulham, Crystal Palace, and West Ham have also been previously linked with the German international.
Werner’s time in the Premier League was underwhelming, scoring only 10 goals in 56 league appearances for Chelsea. The Blues signed him for £47.5 million, and he was part of their 2021 Champions League-winning squad under Thomas Tuchel. He returned to Leipzig the following year in a £25.3 million deal
