Manchester United Eye Move for Former Chelsea Striker Timo Werner

Manchester United are reportedly considering a surprising January move for Timo Werner, the former Chelsea forward known for his speed. According to Sky Germany, United have made initial contact to inquire about the German international as manager Erik ten Hag looks to find a replacement for Antony Martial.

Werner, currently at RB Leipzig, is believed to be unhappy with limited playing opportunities since his return to the club in 2022. He scored 16 goals last season but has found the net only twice in eight Bundesliga matches this campaign, playing just 203 minutes.

Although no formal offer or negotiations have taken place yet, Werner is said to be on United’s shortlist. The 27-year-old has also been linked in the past with clubs like Real Madrid, Fulham, West Ham, and Crystal Palace.

Werner’s previous stint in the Premier League with Chelsea was underwhelming, yielding only 10 goals in 56 appearances. He joined Chelsea in a £47.5 million deal and was part of the squad that won the Champions League in 2021, but returned to Leipzig a year later for £25.3 million.
